What is the aim of counselling/psychotherapy?
The aim of counselling/psychotherapy is to improve knowledge of who you are and what you need out of life, along with helping you build skills and tools to strengthen resilience and coping. In my practice, I use a variety of modalities including CBT, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, autism-informed therapy, ADHD-informed therapy, and pluralistic therapy. I also use personality, attachment, and self-care instruments to help guide you along the way.
How long is a session?
Each session lasts 50 minutes.
What happens during the first session?
The first session typically takes place in person but can also be done online if that's more convenient for you. It is a little different from ongoing sessions because we'll spend some time completing initial paperwork, discussing confidentiality and how therapy works, and building a picture of what has brought you to therapy.
I'll ask about your background, current difficulties, goals, and any relevant health information so that I can begin to understand you as a whole person. This allows me to build a thorough understanding of your situation and tailor therapy to your individual needs from the outset, making the best possible use of future sessions.
I understand that you might feel anxious or nervous about attending your first session, and that's completely normal. My goal is to make you feel as comfortable and supported as possible. I’m also happy to answer any questions you have about therapy and how my practice works.
What is your approach to counselling and therapy?
I am an integrative therapist and psychologist. This means that I am trained in a variety of different therapeutic approaches. My personal favourites are CBT, pluralistic, and psychodynamic therapy. However, my work is client-led, which means that my choice of modality will be guided by you and what you feel is working best. I like to say that I have many tools in my toolbox, so we can tailor our work to what feels most effective for you. Above all else, my work is grounded within a framework of empathy, a non-judgmental stance, and a positive regard for who you are as a person.
What types of issues do you work with?
I work with a wide range of issues but have a particular interest in neurodivergence, adolescent therapy, burnout, and relationship issues including domestic abuse recovery.
I'm trained in neurodiversity-affirming, autism- and ADHD-informed therapy and have completed specialist training as a PESI Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider, as well as completing the DAWN Practitioner Programme in Working with Autistic Adults. These trainings have specifically supported me in making sense of how the autistic or ADHD mind experiences the world. Burnout and chronic illness are also areas I focus on, and I help clients heal and work through the emotional weight that these issues can bring.
Adolescent therapy is an important part of my practice too. Drawing on my training in child psychology, I understand the relational, friendship, and scholastic challenges that this period may bring. Of course, these relational struggles don't always end with adolescence, and I also work with adults untangling difficult dynamics with family or a partner.
Do you work with teenagers?
Yes, I work with people aged 16+.
How often do I need to come to therapy?
Therapy is usually done on a weekly basis at the same time each week.
Do I sit in a room with you?
Yes, I offer in-person therapy in Naas. I also offer walk and talk therapy and online therapy on Mondays and Thursdays. Online therapy is particularly useful for those who would like to attend therapy in the late evenings.
What is online therapy?
Online therapy is the same as in-person therapy except that it is done through an online platform such as DoxyMe, Google Meet, or Zoom.
What are your opening hours?
I see clients from 1pm to 9pm.
Do you take medical cards?
Unfortunately, I cannot take medical cards.
Do you provide receipts for health insurance?
Yes, I can provide receipts for health insurance purposes.
Is my information confidential?
Your information is kept confidential, aside from during professional collegiate supervision or where there is a risk of harm to yourself or another person, including a child.
How long will it take?
This is highly individual. The length of therapy varies for each person, depending on your goals, the challenges you're facing, and the pace at which you feel comfortable working.
My approach is focused on meaningful and lasting change rather than quick fixes. There's no fixed timeline. What matters is that therapy progresses in a way that feels right for you.
How much does it cost?
I charge €80 for both in-person and online sessions. I accept payment through cash, bank transfer, or Revolut.
How do I book an appointment?
The easiest way to contact me is by text or email or through the contact form on this website.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for in-person sessions and 24 hours’ notice for online sessions.
Do you have a professional body and code of ethics?
I am an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). I adhere to the code of ethics for both organisations.
